Aldershot Lions Club Helps to CHEER Runners On at The Around the Bay Road Race!

The rain and cold couldn’t keep these fans from cheering on the more than 9,400 runners participating in the continent’s oldest road race “Around the Bay Race”. The race began in 1894 and has grown into an annual event attracting thousands of runners from around the world. The Aldershot Lions Club hosts a “25 K Party” where fans can cheer on runners and boast their spirits for the final gruelling 5 kilometres.  The party includes a BBQ, lots of noise makers and a large tent to stay dry in. The runners appreciate the fan support and the energy boat of fresh fruit donated by Longos.  Pictures

2009 Charity Pond Hockey Challenge

This year Challenge raised over $12,000 dollars for local community charities – a fantastic amount! And we know we can do better next year.

The organizing committee of the 2009 Charity Pond Hockey Challenge would like to thank everyone for their enthusiastic support and participation at this year’s Charity Pond Hockey Challenge. It was unfortunate that Mother Nature didn’t feel like playing Pond Hockey (we hit a record high temperature on the Challenge day) however, we are pleased with the positive feedback and support.  We are also happy to announce our commitment to hold the 2010 Charity Pond Hockey Challenge (Note: Mother Nature will not be invited).  Pictures
